California Prunes have Christmas covered
With Christmas around the corner, the California Prune Board has teamed up with brand ambassador, Peter Sidwell, on a range of festive recipes set to add sweetness, flavour, and a little west coast sunshine to the party season.
Chef, baker, and TV presenter Peter, who has worked with the California Prune Board (CPB) since 2017, praises the versatility of California Prunes, which can be paired with a wide range of ingredients to create sweet and savoury dishes. He explains: “California Prunes can be used in so many ways. They pair deliciously with meat, add texture to plant-based dishes, and bring a natural sweetness to baked goods and desserts. They’re also high in quality and nutritious, and my go-to ingredient for so many recipes.”
Peter has curated some of his favourite festive recipes and culinary creations on the CPB’s latest blog. His dishes include everything from canapes, starters, and sweet treats through to the main event itself, Christmas dinner.
“We’ve worked with Peter for a number of years and really value his expertise as a food consultant and innovator to the trade,” says Esther Ritson-Elliott, Director of International Marketing and Communications for the CPB.
“Peter’s recipes showcase the many ways California Prunes can be used by both food professionals and home cooks. Since the pandemic, more consumers have begun cooking from scratch and experimenting with a range of different ingredients, including prunes. This interest has been reflected in both California Prune sales and engagement from consumers with our social media channels, especially when we showcase Peter’s creations. We’re delighted to have partnered with him again on his collection of Christmas recipes.”
Meanwhile, fellow California Prune Board ambassador, and Master Chocolatier, Stefano Collomb, has created a ‘White Christmas Log’. Available from his renowned ‘Chocolat’ store in La Thuile, Italy, the dish demonstrates the versatility of prunes in use in festive sweet treats, with Collomb transforming the holiday classic using naturally sweet California Prunes, silky Chantilly cream, and delicious white chocolate.
