We’re excited to announce that the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) has awarded California Prunes ‘Bone Health Approved’ status as part of the UK charity’s Bone Health Accreditation Scheme. It follows the publication of growing evidence, which shows the positive effects prunes can have on bone health.

So how can California Prunes contribute to healthy bones?

California Prunes are not just a natural and convenient snack and ingredient, they are pure powerhouses packed with vitamins and minerals that can help support overall health. This includes vitamin K and manganese, both of which contribute to the maintenance of normal bones. Our purple wonders not only taste great, they are good for your health too!

California Prunes support bone health

What is osteoporosis and why are healthy bones so important?

Strong, healthy bones are the foundation to lifelong vitality and are key to living and ageing well. Sadly, osteoporosis – a condition where bones get very weak and can even break from minor bumps or falls – currently affects 3.5 million people in the UK.

The ROS is the UK’s leading osteoporosis and bone health charity and offers a wide range of support services and advice for those living with the condition. To find out more about the charity, its aims, and osteoporosis and bone health, visit theros.org.uk or call their free helpline on 0808 800 0035.

How can I improve my bone health?

Eating a balanced diet and having an active lifestyle can help maintain healthy bones, and the good news is it’s never too late to start.  Regular exercise can help maintain muscle mass and build strong bones and eating from each of the four main food groups daily can give you the nutrients you need for good bone health, including calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin K.  Did you know that just one portion of our tasty California Prunes makes up one of your recommended ‘five-a-day’?
